The EdGenie way, in five steps from knowing it to scoring it

Step 1

Master the content

How do I learn only what my exam board tests?

You follow the guidance built from your own board's specification.

  • Your examiner teaches every lesson

They explain it the same way they mark it

  • Built from your exact spec

You never revise a topic that can't come up

  • A separate path for all subjects

Your Edexcel is not someone else's AQA

DanielPretty much. Just say what you're holding constant, that's where the mark is.

Step 2

Master exam technique

Why do I know it but still lose marks?

Knowing a topic and scoring it are two different skills. An examiner shows you where the marks sit in an answer, and what earns them.

  • Your examiner shows you where the marks sit

You know the shape of the answer before you start

  • Live classes every week with your examiner

Ask them directly, and every class is recorded

  • A/A* answers pulled apart line by line

You see the standard instead of guessing at it

The proportion of vegans in a city is thought to be 8%.

The owner of an organic food café in this city believes that the proportion of their customers who are vegan is greater than 8%.

To test this belief, a random sample of 50 customers at the café were interviewed and it was found that 7 of them were vegan.

Investigate, at the 5% level, whether this sample supports the owner's belief.

Step 3

Master exam practice

How much practice do I need?

Enough that your technique holds up against the clock. You drill real exam questions, marked against the real mark scheme.

  • Your examiner sets the practice

You drill the topics you keep dropping, not the easy ones

  • Real exam questions, never run out

Practice is never the thing that stops you

Get examiner-level feedback

How do I get my work marked by an examiner?

You send it in, and it goes to someone who marks your board's real papers. It comes back within 24 to 72 hours.

  • Marked by a real examiner

The person who marks your board marks your work

  • Back within 24 to 72 hours

You fix it while you still remember writing it

  • A mark for each assessment objective

Social support is one explanation of resistance to obedience.

In Milgram's variation with a disobedient confederate, obedience

fell from 65% to 10%. This shows that seeing someone else

resist makes it easier to resist yourself.

Locus of control also explains resistance. People with an internal

locus of control believe they control what happens to them,

so they are more likely to resist an order they disagree with.

Feedback

Both explanations are correct, and the evaluation of locus of control

is genuinely strong, and that is where AO3 earns its marks.

AO1 · Knowledge & Understanding

Both explanations split correctly: Social Support situational, Locus of Control dispositional.Name the dissenter variation explicitly. Obedience fell 65% to 10%, so one line earns one more mark.

AO3 · Evaluation & Analysis

8/10
Two evaluations, both in clean PEEL, both weighing the evidence rather than describing it.Push the final judgement further. Say which explanation the evidence supports best.

Step 5

Direct 1:1 examiner support

Can I get 1:1 help from an examiner?

Yes. One named examiner for your subject stays with you all year, and answers you directly.

  • The same examiner all year

You never explain yourself from scratch

  • A 1:1 every term on your own work

With someone who has read everything you've written

  • Message them when you're stuck

An answer today, not next lesson

  • A real examiner replies, not a bot

What's actually stopping you

Six reasons people don't start, answered honestly

Not FAQs. The things you're thinking and probably won't say out loud, and what we'd say back.

  • It's too late. We're already in Year 13.

Underneath this is usually a different question: have we already cost her the grade?

Most of our biggest jumps start in Year 13, and a lot of them start after the January mocks. By then the content is largely there. What's missing is exam technique, and the application of that technique to exam practice.

Answered by 02 · Master exam technique

“In my January mocks I just about scraped a C.” He joined with 20 weeks to go and finished on an A, with 90% on one paper.

  • He won't stick at it. We've paid for things like this before.

The login that got used twice, then never again. Nobody wants that conversation a second time.

This is the failure we design against hardest. Work has to be submitted, so a person is waiting for it. Live classes sit at a fixed time each week, so there is somewhere to be. And the same examiner stays with him all year, which means we notice when he goes quiet.

Answered by 05 · Direct 1:1 examiner support

“She'd stopped talking about it. Then she started leaving her essay plans on the kitchen table, that's when I knew.”

  • We already pay for a tutor.

Often the honest answer is that the tutor is good, and there simply aren't enough hours in the week.

An hour a week cannot mark twenty essays. Our students average 34 pieces of work marked across the year, each one returned with a mark per objective and the specific rewrite. That is the one thing an hourly model cannot scale to, at any price.

    Answered by 04 · Examiner-level feedback

A tutor is £40 to £70 an hour, and an hour rarely covers more than one essay.

  • Isn't this just videos I could find free on YouTube?

Fair question. Most of what gets sold online is a video library with a login.

Videos are step one, and step one is the smallest part of this. What nobody gives away free is your own answer, marked by the person who would have marked it in the summer, back within 1 to 3 days, with detailed feedforward.

    Answered by 04 · Examiner-level feedback

“At school they rarely mark my work. Here I got a mark, a reason and a rewrite.”

  • Her school should be covering this.

They should. And it is reasonable to be annoyed that they're not.

Schools teach the specification well. What they cannot do is mark thirty students' full papers repeatedly with individual comments on each, because those hours do not exist in a school week. EdGenie fills the gap the school has no time for.

Answered by 05 · Direct 1:1 examiner support

“At school, my teachers rarely give me any time. Here I talk to them almost daily.”

  • It's a lot of money and I don't know if it will work.

You have no way of knowing that from a website. Nobody does.

So the first week is free and we don't take a card. After that you have 30 days to change your mind, and it runs month to month.

Why this exists

I built this because I watched the wrong students get the top grades.

Hi, I'm Emre. I started tutoring A-level Economics in 2013 and I still teach.

In 2013 I was tutoring A-level Economics in the evenings, and I noticed something that has bothered me ever since. The students getting A*s were rarely the ones who knew the most. They were the ones whose parents could pay someone to mark their essays every week and tell them what the examiner was looking for.

That is the whole advantage. Being marked every week by someone who knew what the examiner wanted.

Everyone else wrote into a void. They handed work in, got a tick and a grade, and never found out which four marks they had left on the table or why. Plenty of them understood the subject better than the students beating them.

So EdGenie was built around the expensive bit. Examiners mark your work all year and it comes back within 72 hours. A year of that costs less than one hour a week of private tuition.

On results day the messages start arriving at about 8am. The ones I keep are from students who were told in January that a C was realistic.

One a week, taught by an examiner. You can ask the person who would have marked the question.

  • Your exam technique

Taught from the marking side of the paper, so you know where marks are given and where they go missing.

  • Your practice

Real past questions under exam timing, marked against the board's own mark scheme.

  • Your feedback

Every answer you send is marked and back within 72 hours, all year.

  • Your 1:1s

Once a term you sit down with your examiner and go through your own file.

  • Your examiner

The same examiner all year. You never start again with someone who does not know your work.

The practical questions

What people ask us in the week before they start.

  • How much time does this take?

Two to four hours a week. One live masterclass, a couple of topics on your own, and the written work you send in to be marked. The class is the only fixed point in the week, and it is recorded, so even that can move.

  • How fast does marked work come back?

Within 72 hours, in term time and over the holidays. How much you can send depends on your plan, and on Unlimited there is no cap at all.

  • Is a real examiner marking my work, or AI?

A person. An examiner who marks papers for your board, working from the mark scheme they use on the real thing. The AI is there for the 11pm question you cannot ask anyone else, and it tells you when it is not sure.

  • Do you cover my exam board?

Eight A-level subjects across five boards, AQA, Edexcel and OCR among them. You choose your board when you join, and everything you see after that is set for it.

  • Do I have to be at the live classes?

No. They run weekly and every one is recorded. About a fifth of our students are outside the UK and watch the next morning.

  • What happens in the free week?

You pick your subject and board, meet your examiner, sit in on a live class and send work to be marked. It runs for seven days and you use all of it. We don't ask for a card, so there is nothing to cancel at the end.

  • How does paying work, and can I stop?

Month to month once the free week ends, with 30 days to change your mind. Cancelling is a button in your account rather than a phone call.

  • What if my grade does not move?

There is a separate grade guarantee tied to finishing the programme, and its conditions are set out in the terms. Read them before you rely on it. The one number we can give you plainly is that of the students who sent us their results, 64% got an A or A*, and that is a self-selected group.

Great teachers

I really liked how they can hold you accountable for he work you submit and monthly check ups for progress check. Really supportive biology and chemistry teachers.

10/10 teaching

Mariam has provided me with so much support with alevel chemistry! Her masterclasses and half term revision sessions focused on key methods and concepts for different exam boards in chemistry and she also went through many exam questions step-by-step. She was very patient with any students who were struggling, and she always made sure we learned the right technique by constantly drilling these concepts in every class, which has greatly benefited my exam technique.

My Edgenie Journey

A year ago, many of my classmates and teachers told me that completing A-level Mathematics independently in just one year wasn't realistic. Determined to prove them wrong, I found the perfect online learning environment with Edgenie. Although I didn't have a traditional classroom to attend, the regular interactive masterclasses provided structure and a real sense of community. What truly sets Edgenie apart is the level of support available. The maths lead, Jodie, is incredibly dedicated and invests so much time and energy into helping her students succeed. The personalised feedback on my marked work was invaluable and played a huge role in my progress. Every piece of work was carefully reviewed, helping me identify weaknesses and continually improve. The ability to ask questions at any time through the Edgenie Hub also meant I was never left struggling on my own, Jodie was always available to guide me in the right direction. Looking back, I can see just how much I've grown during my gap year, both academically and personally. It feels like I've grown alongside Edgenie, I genuinely couldn't recommend Edgenie highly enough.

Online tutoring can be a minefield…

Online tutoring can be a minefield promising excellence but falls short. The stress as a parent to make the right decisions and the costs involved. Edgenie has made an amazing difference to my daughter’s prep and build up to her Chemistry ALevel. Emre has been amazing at replying and making the best plan for us. If only I had done it sooner!

Psychology

I have completed 2 of Sabina’s psychology courses and both have been fantastic help in developing my confidence in my psychology studies and preparing me for my exams. Sabina was very attentive and promptly answered any questions I had throughout the course. Would highly recommend!

Maths A level course highly recommended

My son did the 2 day Maths A level revision webinar. He’s predicted an A but has been underperforming all year at school and his home revision has been a bit half hearted. In particular he is very bad at making himself practice the “hardest questions” the kind you need to answer if you want an A or A*. The structure of the course was great and covered the harder topics plus exam strategy to maximise working out marks. The teacher Jodie was excellent - she held his attention the whole way through and he was doing the problems along with her in his exercise book. The stats section he found particularly valuable as it’s his weakest area. All in all a great course for an able student, highly recommend.

Sabina has been a life saviour for psychology. She explains things so well and genuinely cares about you. The feedback on my essays have really helped me improve my grade in a short time and the live masterclasses make sure you don’t miss anything for a topic you might be struggling with. Would definitely recommend!

Psychology

I attended the Psychology 6 hour master class with Sabina, it was so helpful and gave me so much confidence as I had felt quite stressed beforehand. Sabina is such a great and enthusiastic teacher as she answered every question asked, made sure we got everything she was saying and presented everything in so much detail. I recommend attending these courses as they also give you all the recordings and resources afterwards and I had received about 20 essays!

Perfect Education Platform

I had a VERY GOOD experience with EdGenie. From the start, everything was so easy to setup and start learning. What stood out most was the maths teacher at EdGenie, Jodie. . She was EXCELLENT and so caring, she would explain things you would not get at first again and again, and her explainations were great. She helped me alot during my year 12 mocks and was really supportive in guiding me through my revision. Overall, I’d recommended EdGenie to anyone who would like to acheive top grades in their final exams.

Massive help

Edgenie genuinely saved our grade. We went through so many essays, which really helped me understand how to structure my answers properly instead of just guessing. Everything was explained in a way that actually made sense and I feel much more confident now when approaching questions. A big thank you to Sabina as well- her explanations really made things click. Definitely recommend if you want to improve your grades.

Psychology A level/Sabina review

Sabina is literally the nicest and most helpful teacher ever. She explains stuff in ways I never thought I would understand and I feel like my essay writing skills for psychology have already improved so much even though I have only been on the programme for about a month. Really recommend investing in EdGenie - you won't regret it!

Boosted My Confidence and Exam Skills Massively

I attended Sabina’s Research Methods crash course in February and it made a huge difference to my understanding. Just a week later, I sat my mocks and achieved full marks on every research methods question, which honestly shows how effective her teaching is. I didn’t hesitate to sign up again for her Easter crash course. Sabina breaks things down so clearly and she showed me exactly how to approach short-answer questions and, more importantly, how to structure 12- and 16-mark essays to hit the top bands. Seeing model A* answers also really helped me understand what examiners are actually looking for and having the structure to hit full marks everytime has boosted my confidence. She’s incredibly positive, supportive, and always takes the time to answer questions, no matter how small. You can tell she has a lot of experience, and as an examiner, she gives really valuable insight into how to maximise marks. After attending two of her courses, I feel so much more confident going into my exams. I would highly recommend Sabina to anyone studying A level Psychology.

My daughter went from a low B in Y12 to securing a solid A in her A level Economics. The live tutorials, the ability to watch past sessions and the really well priced revision classes were exactly what she needed to boost her grade. So happy with Ed Genie that I’ve just signed up my other daughter for 2 subjects.

I honestly owe my grade to Emre and…

I honestly owe my grade to Emre and this platform! When I was sitting my A-levels, I was struggling to grasp economics in school and so I signed on for EdGenie a few months before exams and I was able to go from a C/D to a B (4 marks off an A). I decided to re-sit and I chose to learn economics at home rather than at my college, relying on the platform. From this, I received all the support I needed with monthly progress meetings with Emre and amazing and constructive feedback on all the work I submitted so I was able to see where I was going wrong. I ended up with an A and now I’m enjoying uni!! I could not recommend EdGenie more as I definitely would not be where I am without it.

Summer · 4 Apr 2026

Sabina was amazing

Sabina was amazing in the 3day easter booster. She made sure everyone’s questions were answered and that there was no confusion. I was particularly impressed with the amount of detail and resources that were provided. I now have a clear approach and understanding of what I need to do in order to get to my a star.

Kendall · 1 Apr 2026

Easter Revision Course!!

I did the Easter revision course for psychology with Sabina and wow. We covered so much in those 3 days but what was most useful was actually learning about specific structure for every single type of question you could get. I couldn't recommend this enough, particularly Sabina who knew answers to every single question thrown at her and making the experience enjoyable when it can seem quite daunting at times. I really recommend!!!

Choose ed genie

As a retake student, I had many options of which tuition to use. By far ed genie has been the best investment I made into my studies as it provided EVERYTHING. As already grasping the content in sixth form, it was more exam technique which it provides 2 specific master classes a week and the best thing is that provides A* walkthrough combining content and exam technique which was best for someone who is a retake student. With the help of the fabulous team they are all trained exam markers which provides detailed feedback, helping improve the 25 markers for both economics and business.

Shehryaar · 27 Nov 2025

Definitely recommend!!

Edgenie is an amazing platform and thanks to its resources, I achieved an A* in Economics! This wouldn't have been possible without Emre and his team - they're extremely dedicated with their marking providing useful feedback and the many booster courses Emre runs over the year. The website is organised well including sections with exam techniques, essay plans, notes and practice questions, all of which were extremely detailed and helpful! Thank you very much for all the support Emre :))

Kavya Nandigam · 15 Aug 2025

I want to say a massive thank you to emre and his team as I managed to get an A* in economics. I was on a B and i felt I was going downhill before I joined edgenie a couple months before my exams. Not only did my grades improve but my passion for economics came back and I learnt lots of real life examples which has really stuck with me. Overall edgenie is a great platform providing you content, exam technique and feedback for your work so you know exactly where your at.

Aarad · 14 Aug 2025

As a parent

As a parent, I was initially sceptical about claims Emre and the team at EdGenie would be able to assist my son in attaining an A in his A level economics. The results speak for themselevs - an A in today's results. Undoubtedly hard work played its part, but the advice, guidance and encouraging approach have helped my son achieve his potential. Thank you Emre and team!

Ed genie programme

After not having my teacher for almost two months and covers who didn’t understand my questions in class, edgenie was my only support. The videos were so proficient I rarely had questions to ask but when I did, I was given help immediately in ways that fully helped me understand the spec instead of a basic textbook answer. I also purchased other courses that were running before the exams and that helped me in every way. Full essays plans, intricate feedback and hours of support from edgenie was the only thing that got me though this year and my journey with econ.

Mahera · 2 Jul 2025

The best Easter revision course

The best Easter revision course in which I took part in (not out of just economics but all three subjects!). Emre was really helpful and insightful in the topics he covered and gave an amazing way to answer essay questions and how to improve exam technique. This was amazing!!!

FULL OF GOODIES

This was the best 3-day Easter Accelerator course I've ever been on. The amount of resources, advice, information Mr Emre (Edgenie himself) provided to all the students on the course was impeccable. I truly believe I am on the route to an A* due to the sheer amount of support he provided over the 3 days. He's truly a hard-working teacher, and certainly helps you whenever you want! Remember: "Just Ask" - Emre Aksahin

Easter crash course was amazing

Easter crash course was amazing. Learnt a lot coming from an A* economics student. Emre was incredible throughout the whole 3 days. I would definitely recommend purchasing with that price as well. He was very interactive and patient with explaining himself thoroughly, amazing chat too with how helpful everyone was . Great environment to learn in overall.I feel much more confident in achieving an A* just before my exams now , this was very much needed and very productive.

EdGenie’s Easter Accelerator course was great!

EdGenie’s Easter Accelerator course was a total game-changer. Emre is an amazing teacher who really knows how to break things down and make complex ideas click. The course was intense but super effective — loads of exam technique, clear explanations, and great feedback. I left feeling way more confident and prepared. If you’re aiming for top grades in A-level Economics, this is 100% worth it.

Daniel Bourner · 12 Apr 2025

Masterclasses and Easter Accelerator

I signed up to do multiple masterclasses and the easter accelerator with edgenie and they were amazing! Emre answered every question and helped develop each answer with good real world application examples. Emre went through multiple topics and made it really easy to understand as he explained each one thoroughly. I would definitely recommend!!

Ava · 11 Apr 2025

This programme is superb

This programme is superb! My son loves Economics but his exam technique and essay planning was really weak. He was predicted a C after his mocks with A* knowledge. I saw the Edgenie advert on Facebook and it sounded too good to be true. It isn’t! The content is brilliant, the intensive revision sessions before the exams were just perfect but most importantly the advice on exam technique changed my son’s life. He got an A for economics this week and is going to Newcastle to study Economics and finance. And I don’t think he would have achieved this without the motivation and insight from Edgenie. Worth every single penny! Thank Emre and your team.

EdGenie is 100% worth it

EdGenie is 100% worth it, I have just received my A-Level results getting a B in economics though that is not teh A or A* I will still say that if it weren't for Emre and teh rest of the Ed-Genie team that would not have been the. Emre puts so much time and effort into this, especially the holiday sessions which are amazing and so helpful. Thank you so much.

Lucja murzanska · 15 Aug 2024

Outstanding Program

I cannot speak highly enough of this economics program which my son joined from year 13. He was struggling with Economics but Emre and the whole team provided great live lessons that helped improve his understanding of the key concepts which he found at the beginning very difficult to get his head around. They provided a wide variety of exam questions which they worked through together and were always available 24/7 when you needed help with any questions. Just before exams Emre held additional classes to ensure that all his students were well-prepared. He achieved a grade A and got the university of his choice.

Dhiren Chainrai · 25 Nov 2023

Great!

went from constant C’s and B’s in first year to an A (few marks off an A*) in my final A-level exams. 24/7 support via live chat with many unique opportunities such as 3 day courses to help solidify key learning, topics and techniques. like i’m sure others are, i was skeptical spending the money but i decided to give it a go as i needed the help and i can confirm i do not regret it at all.

Shopper · 17 Aug 2023

The best educational investment I made

I bought Edgenie in my last 3/4 months of A levels as a last resort because I have struggled hugely with economics. Looking back, I wish I got it sooner. The the way the course is laid out, the ongoing support from Emre and the team and the resources available, really makes it feel much more like 24/7 tutoring. If you are in any doubt and struggling to make a decision, I cannot urge you enough to get Edgenie!! Emre's dedication towards helping students understand economics and achieve top grades is apparent and completely unmatched; no other resource tops this course. His teaching style is very calm, honest and coherent (everything you need when dealing with an overwhelming amount of content). I can't emphasise enough how good it is

Alexandra Rocas · 19 Apr 2023

The BEST platform to master economics

After not having an economics teacher for a year, i bought Ed genie at the start of year 13 and it has saved me so much! The content is easily accessible and the concepts are explained in so much detail. There is so much exam support, e.g application to use in essays, and lots and lots of exam practice. Emre is my saviour! He is so kind and absolutely amazing at explaining challenging (and simple) concepts so i understand it.

Aleena · 4 Mar 2023

EdGenie - Simply Fantastic!

EdGenie has been a fantastic learning platform for my daughter during her A Level Economics course. As a parent I have seen first hand how Emre's personal touch during his videos and tutorials have resulted in a confidence boost to my daughter. I highly recommend this platform. Thanks again Emre for everything you have done - we really appreciate your feedback and support.

An extremely helpful resource

I started using EdGenie a few months ago and I’m really impressed. Topics from the specification are clearly broken down into detailed videos, making content a lot easier to understand. The application videos and emails help link economic theory to the real world and have kept me up to date with current events. Understanding how to evaluate is also made so simple with the use of acronyms. EdGenie has been so useful with improving my exam technique. Through the live exam walkthroughs, I’ve learnt how to develop my chains of analysis and structure my answers. They’re also a great opportunity to ask questions on anything I don't understand. I’m now much more confident when writing essays! EdGenie is an amazing resource. I wish I had known about it earlier!

Informative and Engaging

In Year 12 I achieved a B at AS and I was working at an A throughout Year 13. After signing up for EdGenie, my test grades started to improve greatly and I was able to achieve an A* at A Level. I found the material was extremely helpful as they provided me with the skills and knowledge to get the grade I needed. The lessons are engaging and allow one to thoroughly understand the topic, and are followed by interactive quizzes to solidify learning. Emre also runs sessions to answer any questions and go over content and past paper questions. Overall, EdGenie was a highly beneficial program which helped me boost my grade achieve my goals.

Annie · 14 Sep 2021

Amazing results!!!

As a student barely scraping a C at the start of my As levels, with the guidance of the Edgenie course and further reinforcement from Emre's regular online sessions. I can proudly say I am operating at an A-A* grade! Where the course covers both the theory and core principles of topics and regular exam practice I can stay atop of classwork and even get ahead! From a current economics student, EdGenie would definitely give you a 200% Return on your investment :)

I felt so confident in explaining what I had learnt after watching just one video on EdGenie. The monthly tutorials are so Productive & it allows me to develop my understanding of economics further by asking questions. Also the the case study’s & context Emre covers & discussed points gets me prepared & ready for me to complete essays on my own. Thank you so much Sara

I came across Edgenie when I was looking for support for my studies. The course was well structured and broke down the information in easily absorbable chunks. The videos are a definite bonus and Emre always being on call is invaluable. It's a really good resource for me compared to others I've used. The Analysis points, Evaluation and the How to Draw diagrams especially are really well thought out and has helped be move up to an A* in my class. I would recommend it to everybody.

Give it a week before you decide

Pick your subject and board, then send your examiner something to mark. You will have it back within 72 hours, which is the part worth testing. It runs seven days and we take no card, so there is nothing to cancel.
